Red Eyed Crocodile Skink
-
Size: 7 inches
-
Lifespan: 8 to 10 years
-
Tank: 10 to 20 gallons for a single red eyed croc skink, but add another 10 gallons if you add another
-
Substrate: 3 to 6 inches of substrate because it has to be deep enough for them to burrow. You can use cocohusk or sphagnum moss substrate. Or for best results have a sphagnum moss layer of 1 to 2 inches with a layer of hydroponics clay on the bottom with a thin amount of water on the bottom with the clay.
-
Decorations: a water dish that is big enough for them to soak in and is mildly buried. They should also have a few leaves in there, a few hides such as a coconut hut, and a few low lying branches to climb on.
-
Heat: 71°F to 83°F
-
Crepuscular and need basking bulb, doesn’t need to be UV if they are given food dusted with calcium and vitamin D3.
-
Humidity: 70% to 90%
-
Diet: insectivorous, feed them: earthworms, mealworms, superworms, waxworms, crickets, and roaches.
-
Feeding: Feed young skinks every day and adults every other day.
-
Avoid handling because they will get stressed out and potentially drop their tail. Also, make sure their enclosures have a lid because they are adept climbers.
